A Meeting at North Tea Power

Sometimes living alone and also working from home can become a real drag. Little interaction + little encouragement = low motivation. So a couple of weeks ago I made arrangements with my oldest friend Becky, who is in a very similar situation, to meet up and go for breakfast in order to discuss life, boys, business and all things blog related.

We met in the centre of an extremely cold and blustery Manchester and had a very short discussion about where to go - I said I wanted to try somewhere I'd never been before and we both agreed we wanted somewhere that did a decent piece of cake and a non-dairy coffee option. Becky immediately suggested North Tea Power in the Northern Quarter which ticked all the above boxes and I was not disappointed!

Becky ordered a piece of courgette and lime cake which was moist, fruity and had the right balance of super-sweet buttercream frosting with not-overly-sweet cake.

I got the granola pot which I have subsequently craved every day since. I planned to start with this and then follow it with a slice of cake but the portion was deceptively large and left me far too full for cake. The granola was more of a soft flapjack consistency which I much prefer to a really crunchy, you-could-break-your-teeth-on-these-clusters style of granola. It was the perfect mix of nutty, fruity and sweet with masses of natural yogurt and honey on top.

We also got a couple of soya lattes and spent the whole morning chatting away with plenty of complementary apple-infused water to aid in our chin-wagging.

Becky also runs an incredible blog that you can find here as well as being a founder and owner of Pocket Chief, a company that produces stunning silk pocket squares. She's also just an amazingly beautiful, inspirational and sincere person so be sure to follow her on twitter and instagram.

After hours of chatting, sufficiently breakfasted and in need of more surface space for planning / editing we skipped out and (slowly) strolled our way back to Becky's for the remainder of the day.

North Tea Power provided a relaxed, comfortable and creative environment that is clearly popular with those in need of a break from their usual work spaces. We went on a Thursday morning and almost everyone in there was either sat alone, tapping on a laptop or conducting some seriously creative planning sessions and business meetings, yet at no point was it awkward, quiet, intimidating or stifling. It will definitely be somewhere I visit frequently when I'm in need of a change to my home-office.

Where are your favourite places to hold business meetings / creative planning sessions?
