Moisturising In-Shower Salt Scrub

Don't get me wrong, I love a good pamper night but, when the weather is this hot the last thing I want to be doing is sitting in a steaming bath and spending hours slathering on the lotions and potions when I could be sprawled on the grass outside in the sunshine.
However, the heat also calls for far more skin to be on show than usual and this requires some form of maintenance. Enter my In-Shower Salt Scrub. With just two ingredients this scrub is ridiculously simple to make and will leave your skin super silky soft with no further moisturise-ation required.

To make you will need:
1 & 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil
1 tablespoon fine organic salt (not the coarse sea-salt type as you don't want to pull your skin off. OWIE!)

1. Simply melt the coconut oil in the microwave or in a pan (can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on how solid your coconut oil is).

2. Add your salt, a little at a time, stirring consistently to ensure it doesn't clump.

3. When using in the shower it's most effective when you turn off the water or stand well away from the faucet as you apply the salt scrub because you want to give a few seconds to actually sit on the skin before rinsing off.

4. Apply from the feet upwards in the direction of your heart using circular motions - this gets the blood flowing and aids in lymph drainage which will help even out your skin tone and aid to reduce cellulite.

5. Once your salt scrub is applied then leave it on the skin for just a few seconds/minutes to allow for the coconut oil to soften and melt into your skin. The salt can cause a mild tingly sensation which further stimulates the skin and the blood.

6. Now rinse off thoroughly to get rid of the salt but DO NOT apply any soap products of any kind as this will wash off the coconut oil.

7. As you step out of the shower gently pat yourself down to remove the surface water.

I find that I have no need to apply any moisturiser after using this scrub as the coconut oil has sufficiently done the job but, if you desire, then pop some on to be super silky or simply apply your preferred SPF and hop, skip and jump your way into the (who'd have thought it) English summer sunshine.
