Get To Know Me: Ellie Austin-Williams

Are you ready for another Get to Know Me?
We sure hope so because this week we would like you to meet the gorgeous Ellie Austin-Williams.

Ellie is a fitness editor for the fabulous lifestyle blog Balanced BeingLondon; a health and lifestyle blog focused on teaching it's audience to love the skin their in. She's a self-confessed foodie and gym bunny on a mission to eat her way around London’s swankiest restaurants. As if that wasn't a big enough task, Ellie is also a postgrad LPC (Law) student which makes her faaaaar cleverer than us!
So Ellie...

COMMENT: What made you decide to begin your blog / channel / business etc. and what does it offer to people?
Ellie: After spending months toying with the idea of setting up a blog to encapsulate my passion for fitness and lifestyle but never quite having enough time in between my endless studying, I stumbled across the opportunity to join the Balanced Being team as fitness editor. I met Natalie, the owner, and our visions seemed to align brilliantly. Balanced being does what it says; it focuses on lifestyle and wellbeing from all angles, incorporating mind, body and fun!

C: What is the biggest hurdle you have had to overcome with regard to your blog / channel / business etc. and how did you overcome it?
E: It might sound a little odd, but my friends that I have grown up with are not particularly into fitness and find the concept of the community online and on social media quite strange, so I initially was nervous about telling them that I was going to be writing articles and attending all sorts of blogging events. However they have all been very supportive and are really interested in what I am doing and what the latest trends are.

C: What is your Friday afternoon indulgence?
E: Balance, to me, encapsulates fuelling my body well to keep functioning and treating myself to keep my mind peaceful! At the end of a busy week, you will find me with a G&T in hand, or a cold glass of dry white wine, catching up with my girlfriends or relaxing after a stressful week at Law school.

C: Your idea of a perfect weekend is…
E: Waking up to a glorious day of sunshine in London, with a goodness filled smoothie bowl whipped up or a green juice followed by brunch with the girls at a newly discovered cute café (there are some brilliant places in Dulwich). Lounging on the Common gossiping and catching up, popping to a bar and watching the world go by, with a sweaty HIIT class in the diary for Sunday.

C: Here at COMMENT we love Brunch. Where is your favourite Brunch spot?
E: I live in SW London, around the corner from St John’s Hill which is home to the deliciousness that is Ben’s Canteen. Ben’s make their own yummy hash browns, poach their eggs perfectly and serve creamy almond milk lattes. Pure brunch bliss.

C: What 3 things can you not leave home without?
E: My iPhone, Clinique Chubby Stick, Headphones.

C: Who are your idols, mentors, people that make you fan-girl, and why?
E: I think Karlie Kloss is brilliant. Not for her accolades as a supermodel, but for her decision to leave the superpower that is Victoria’s Secret in order to prioritise her education and study at college. The media makes it easy to value looks above all else, however Karlie is standing apart from this idea and demonstrating to her fans the true value of education.
I am equally inspired everyday by the girls I am surrounded by. My flatmates, my trainer, my mother and grandmother – they all have determination, compassion and really embody the meaning of girl power.

C: What is your top tip for a Monday morning?
E: Rise and stretch! Stretching out helps shake off the bed bug feeling and helps get ready to face the week.

C: What is your morning routine?
E: Routine is key for keeping both my mind and body on track, even when I don’t have to be at law school. I am a big believer in a to do list, so every morning I will get up, have a cup of black earl grey tea and check my list. Often this will be simple things like emailing and checking up on Instagram (I run the balancedbeingfit account) or I will head to the gym with my flatmate for an early workout session.

Complete this sentence:
In 5 years’ time I would like to be…
Living a fulfilling life, where my legal career and passion for health and fitness are balanced and successful. Heading into the corporate world I am fully aware that balance may often escape me, however I am determined to incorporate exercise, socialising and time out into my hectic schedule in order to keep my mind and body as content as possible.
